Through various technology alliances, like with Davy Process Technology for the fatty alcohols processes, combined with a strong product development: DeSmet Ballestra became a major reference in this field.

In more than 40 years, DeSmet Ballestra and its 15 affiliated companies have installed more than 400 oleochemical and biodiesel processes worldwide.

These last 3 months, DeSmet Ballestra enjoyed contracting 13 orders for biodiesel plants in Colombia, Estonia, France, Greece, India, Malaysia, Peru, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and USA with capacities of 100.000 - 250.000 T/Y showing DeSmet Ballestra’s leadership in the biodiesel plant technologies.
 
Over 50 new biodiesel plants are presently under engineering, construction or start-up phase in Western Europe, North & South America, and Asia using the latest DeSmet Ballestra technologies and with a total capacity of more than 6 millions T/Y of biodiesel, based on rapeseed, soybean, sunflower, palm oil or animal fats.

DeSmet Ballestra is nowadays in a position to design and to supply multiple feed stock biodiesel production plants, sized in a wide range of production capacities from 50,000 up to 300,000 T/Y, coping with the most stringent international standard specifications.
