The Institute for International Research will be holding its annual and premier African Biofuels event
from 30 March to 2 April 2009. This is the biggest biofuels event and exhibition on the African continent
that attracts major national and international role players and people interested in entering this market. The
main aim of the 2009 event will be to move beyond current industry constraints in order to create a common
platform that can aid in unifying different players and advancing biofuels opportunities on the continent.
Even though there have been some industry challenges related to legislation, funding and general
commercial issues, biofuel still remains one of the main alternative sources of fuel, and a big opportunity for
the African continent. By attending this event you will be able to explore the current national and international
opportunities that can move the industry forward.
The 4 day event will showcase over 40 speakers, numerous African and international case studies,
panel discussions, open floor delegate discussion sessions, mini-workshops and focused expert
sessions. The event is structured in such a way as to attract companies who have been in the industry
for a while as well as new entrants into the market who would like to know more about the various biofuel
production methods and available technologies.
Day 1, a pre-conference focus day, will deal with latest biofuels production methods, focusing on ethanol,
biodiesel and other alternatives. This day is aimed at companies wanting to get into the industry or industry
players who would like to gain further insight into latest production methods.
Days 2 & 3 are the main conference days that will focus on the latest challenges and opportunities
found on the continent. These 2 days would attract past and new delegates wanting to know what
the current state of play is. If you attend these days you will be able to discuss the latest issues and
developments through interactive panel discussions, open floor delegate discussions, national & international
case studies and different sector views.
Day 4 will focus on technology and the movement towards second generation biofuels. If you are
